Charka Vangel
Vangel Charka was born in 1917 in the village of Katranica to a very
poor family. In 1942 he became a member of the CPG and the same year
he joined the ranks of ELAS. He was was well known as an outstanding
courier.
After the Varkiza agreement he was followed and forced to live in the
mountain. As soon as the first DAG groups appeared, he joined them and
took part in many struggles, rising to the rank of leading commander.
He was killed in the battle on Konica together with Nonda Joro from
the same village.
